summer workshops

Thanks for keeping posting Pum and thanks to Eugenia for a post from February of the Incredible Machine. This video was the starting point for a summer school and a fantastic opportunity to work with artist Rosie Gibson and a great group of children for five consecutive full days.

Working in a studio environment, themes of cause and effect and science experiments were inspirations for some great artwork. Starting from the Incredible Machine video, we found other source material such as Rube Goldberg’s drawings, Wallace and Gromit and artists Fishcli and Weiss.

Fischli and Weiss proved really captivating, engaging the group for half an hour accompanied by shouts of delight and amazement.

As well as great artwork, there was lots of sharing ideas (thanks again Eugenia), helping each other and friendships were formed. A tiring but rewarding week and the group were still asking for more time in the studio!

  1. this would keep my attention too…science classes should have gadgetry…i wonder if physics and art are working in schools like this…i will ask around here…do you know if its already going on? I remember when i took physics, it was not anything so interesting…we had gadgetry but not this extensively (marshmellow olympics)...and no art was incorporated…im intrigued by the art context…gosh im jealous of your students.
